About Teri Laffan



Teri Laffan, a professional artist/educator, founded Little Art School in 1990 and, subsequently, a gallery. Watch for future gallery openings! Teri has devoted her life to art and has been teaching people of all ages since 1985. She studied art in Rome, Italy, and Guadalajara, Mexico, received a BFA through the University of Northern Iowa and has taken numerous classes in education. Teri has a strong intrest in Art History and other cultures and spends 2 months a year in Mexico painting and teaching. Having traveled extensively, she incorporates various cultural influences, including music, symbols and styles, into her curriculum and her own work. Teri's goal is to inspire creativity and confidence while promoting artistic growth, practice and continuity. The various art projects explore drawing, painting, clay and printmaking and are enriched through the integration of art history, stories & music. Open all year round, the colorful studio and small class size provide a comfortable, productive and gentle environment for people of all ages.

Studies:

1971-73: Depauw University, Greencastle, IN. Also studied in Guadalajara, Mexico through Depauw. Full scholarship and best Freshman Artist Award.

1973: University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA. Full scholarship for summer.

1974: Tyler School of Art, Rome, Italy. Abroad program through Temple University, Pittsburgh, PA. Partial scholarship.

1978-88: Graduated from University of Northern Iowa. BA with major in Fine Art.

1987-88: Seattle Central College, Seattle, WA. Education classes.

1989-90: Central WA University, Seattle, WA. Education classes.
