SAMPLE ART PROJECTS & CLASSES AT LITTLE ART SCHOOL
Artstart
A mixed-media class for young children. Art history, music and stories enrich projects in drawing, painting clay, printmaking, & papier mache. Two projects each session. Bring snacks!
Drawing Animals
In this class we'll be looking at pictures of animals and working from animal models. We will also look at African designs and symbols as well as landscapes. We'll be drawing, painting and making prints.
Kids' Choice:
Kids pick their projects! Explore drawing, art history, painting, papier mache, clay or printmaking. I work with each student individually on their project. Come with ideas about what your focus will be!
Drawing & Watercolor
The painting class involves basic drawing and the exploration of color. We'll be making color wheels and will learn about primary/secondary/intermediate colors & color mixing. Materials: Pencil, ink, watercolors.
**Bring watercolor pad
Clay Fountains
In this class we'll be drawing and working with clay and making clay fountains. **Supplies: Students must bring their own small pump and a large, wide pot to put the fountain in.
Painting: Underwater scenes
In this class the focus will be on underwater creatures and scenes We'll be mixing colors and using various watercolor techniques. **Bring watercolor pad
Clay Maskmaking
In this class we'll be looking at masks from around the world for inspiration. We'll be designing our masks, then forming them out of clay, painting them with glaze, carving & firing them.
Clay Animals
In this class we'll be looking at pictures of animals and working from animal models. We will also look at African designs and symbols and make animals or tiles out of clay.
Clay Portraits or Masks
In this class we'll be learning to draw our faces through measuring and using mirrors. We'll make colorful clay portraits of ourselves or a mask based on a variety of cultural motifs. Materials: Choice of tempera, watercolor or pastels. Also clay and glazes.
Drawing: Still life w/Matisse
In this class we'll be working with line, shape, color, perspective composition, color & shadow. Wešll be working from a still life and looking at the work of Henri Matisse.
Impressionist Painting
In this class, we will be drawing and painting and looking at the work of the Impressionists. We'll be exploring the styles and colors used by the Impressionists and mixing our own colors. Wešll also be learning basic drawing techniques.
Drawing, Shape, Color
In this class we'll be with shape & color and looking at the work of Joan Miro. Materials: pastels, marker, paint.
Dream Painting w/Chagall
This class involves the exploration of color & color mixing. We will also be learning basic drawing techniques and focusing on the colorful and dream-like quality of the work of Marc Chagall. Materials used: pencil, tempera, watercolors, and pen & ink.
Portraits: Drawing & Clay
In this class we'll be learning to draw our faces using mirrors and making a colorful clay protraits of ourselves. Materials: Choice of tempera, watercolor or pastels. Also clay and glazes.
Portrait Painting with Frida Kahlo
In this class we'll be looking at Mexican Folk Art and the work of Frida Kahlo. We'll be painting self-portraits that tell a story using the format of the Mexican Retablo paintings. Frida Kahlo brought attention to the Retablo style through her many self-portraits. We'll be framing the paintings and decorating the frames.
*BRING MATERIALS: Plain, black wood frame or Mexican tin frame (nichos)

Class Cost: $120 per week
Teen Punchcards: $220 + $10 Clay Fee (20 hours of class, Ages 12 & up)
Kids Choice Punchcard: $220 + $10 Clay Fee (16 hours of class, Ages 5 -11)

Cost: $220 + $10 Clay Fee
Each card has sixteen one-hour class sessions. Students pick their projects. Projects range from in-depth drawings, paintings, clay or 3-D to projects related to school topics being studied at the time.
Make Your Own Art Group
All year long!!
All Ages
Cost: $110 for 8 hours of class (minimum)
Make Your Own Group! Bring your friends & pick your days, times and projects! Explore drawing, art history, painting, papier mache, clay or printmaking. I work with each student individually on their projects. Times and days /evenings are flexible.
